Volkswagen is increasing the brand's presence in the compact crossover segment by introducing the new Taigo SUV coupe in the European market.
The front-wheel-drive available for Volkswagen Taigo appeals to a broad audience with its combination of a trendy crossover design, an elevated seating position, a 100% digital and connected driver's seat and impressive spaciousness. The elegant crossover is expected to be introduced in Europe in November, and it is offered in four equipment lines and three engine variants.
With Taigo, Volkswagen's designers have created a five-seater crossover with an elegant coupe-like roofline without compromising on the headroom of the rear seat. With the introduction of Taigo, Volkswagen is thus expanding its portfolio of compact models based on the modular MQB platform, which already counts Polo and T-Cross. The Volkswagen Taigo has an almost identical wheelbase with the two models, but with a length of 4,266 mm, it is 192 mm longer than a Volkswagen Polo and 158 mm longer than a Volkswagen T-Cross, respectively. In addition, the Volkswagen Taigo has a seat height like a compact SUV, but the lower body with sporty proportions is still 90 mm lower than the Volkswagen T-Cross.
In the development of the new VW Taigo, the focus has been on design, individuality, and emotional appeal, but the almost 4.26 meter long SUV coupe also sets a high technological standard and comes standard with LED headlights, a complete digital driver's seat and the latest generation of online infotainment systems (MIB3). Furthermore, depending on the equipment variant, Volkswagen Taigo also comes with the new advanced "IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights" and a transverse strip of LED light in the radiator grille, just like on the more exclusive models like Arteon and Tiguan. It gives Taigo superb light and safer driving in the dark, and, at the same time, a unique light signature.
Inside, the Volkswagen Taigo offers a stylish and inviting, high-quality interior and a driver's seat with well-thought-out ergonomics and intuitive, modern controls. The infotainment systems are based on the latest generation, which is online and with eSIM cards and wireless "App-Connect" (depending on equipment variant). Features such as streaming, natural voice control and cloud-based customization of the car's features using "Volkswagen ID" make it possible to use the latest MIB3.1 services depending on the car's equipment.
When it comes to assistant systems, the Taigo (depending on the equipment variant) comes with equipment that is usually reserved for more extensive and more expensive Volkswagen models and which lifts both driving comfort and safety to a new level for cars in this class. All equipment variants of the Taigo come standard equipped with assistance systems such as "Front Assist", including City Emergency Brake with pedestrian and cyclist monitoring, and "Lane Assist", which keeps the car in the middle of the lane and warns against accidental lane changes.
The new VolkswagenTaigo is also available with "IQ.DRIVE Travel Assist" (Standard on Life, Style and R-Line), which combines the adaptive cruise control and Lane Assist, enabling partially automated driving at speeds up to 210 km / h.
The Volkswagen Taigo model range consists of four equipment lines called Taigo, Life, Style, and R-Line. The engine program includes three gasoline engines; two 1.0 TSI engines with 95 and 110 hp and a 1.5 TSI with 150 hp. In addition, the Volkswagen Taigo will be equipped with a 5- or 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DSG gearbox, depending on the engine variant.
The new Volkswagen Taigo is expected to be introduced in Europe in November. Information about European prices and equipment will be published at a later date.
