The Volvo EX90, the EV replacement for the XC90, will debut in dealerships with a new pure-electric platform and up to 510 bhp. Volvo has tested the waters of the electric vehicle industry, but it plans to strike in 2024. The Volvo EX90 is the all-electric SUV that will replace the XC90 seven-seater.
Even though the EX90's bold profile, sharp shoulder line, and "Thor hammer" headlamps are all nods to its forerunner, the vehicle is fundamentally different. It comes with two dual-motor powertrains and uses the same pure-electric SPA2 architecture as the Polestar 3.
Volvo's flagship model still seats seven people and has a trunk capacity of 310 liters, despite being almost five meters long. This increases to 655 liters when the middle row is pushed down and to a whopping 1,915 liters when only the front seats are up.
Towing the 2,818-pound SUV from zero to sixty-two miles per hour in just 5.9 seconds is possible with the base Twin Motor model's 402 hp and 770 Nm of torque. With its more powerful motor setup (510 horsepower and 910 Nm of torque), the more costly Twin Motor Performance trims a whole second off that time. A maximum speed of 112 mph is set for both.
While both models share the same 107 kWh (usable) battery capacity, the Twin Motor's estimated 364-mile range puts it four miles ahead of its more powerful sibling. The SPA2 architecture allows for bidirectional charging, which means you may go from a 10% to an 80% charge in just half an hour. During peak times, consumers may be able to send energy from their batteries back to the grid if the technology develops as planned. Besides charging your Volvo EV, the system may charge your home appliances.
The Volvo EX90 luxury SUV is Volvo's safest vehicle to date, thanks to its cutting-edge suite of radars and camera systems. The SUV's onboard computer, NVIDIA DRIVE, gets information from these sensors and a lidar unit that can see things hundreds of meters away, even at night.

Pricing for the top-tier Ultra version of the Volvo EX90 luxury electric SUV is expected to start at $128,000 in Twin Motor form and rise to $136,000 for the performance-oriented Twin Motor Performance model when it sells in the USA. Care by Volvo, Volvo's all-in-one subscription service, will also offer it.
